Subject: [*] CopyDoubler 2.0.1 Updater
About this updater:
This program updates CopyDoubler 2.0 to version 2.0.1. Instructions for
updating
are included with the updater.
This updater does not update CopyDoubler 1.0.x, CopyDoubler 2.0 Lite or the
CopyDoubler 2.0 Demo. A separate updater is available here for CopyDoubler
1.0,
CopyDoubler 1.0.1A, and CopyDoubler 2.0 Lite. We recommend that all users of
CopyDoubler 2.0 upgrade to this version as it fixes some important bugs.
CopyDoubler 2.0.1 Changes:
* Fixed a compatibility problem where CopyDoubler would not perform a copy if
Apple's PowerTalk (AOCE) or Personal File Assistant software is installed.
* Fixed a bug where CopyDoubler would compress invisible files when
compressing
while copying.
* Fixed a bug where there was a delay of up to five seconds when invoking a
scheduled copy via the keyboard if the current application is not the Finder.
This delay has been eliminated.
* Fixed a bug where files on a hard disk could get deleted when drag copying a
blank floppy disk onto another floppy disk.
* Fixed a bug where CopyDoubler was trying to handle copying to and from MFS
formatted disks and producing an error. The Finder should now handle all
copies
to and from MFS disks.
* Fixed a bug where an application's reference in the desktop file wasn't
always
getting deleted when that application itself was deleted by the user.
* Fixed a bug where copying files between floppies could produce a "file
already
exists" error.
* Fixed a bug where the Mac could crash if a CopyDoubler scheduled copy
executes
while the desktop file was being rebuilt.
* Fixed a bug where the same file/folder could be added multiple times to a
scheduled copy.
* Fixed a bug which could cause the Mac to ask the user to reinsert ejected
floppy disks when a copy was invoked, even if the copy did not involve the
ejected floppy.
* Fixed a bug where the progress window could be drawn incorrectly on a Mac
with
multiple monitors.
* Fixed some minor cosmetic/user interface issues in the Schedule Setup
dialog.

Subject: [*] CopyDoubler Lite 2.0.1 Updater
About this updater:
This program updates the following versions of CopyDoubler to CopyDoubler 2.0
Lite:
* CopyDoubler 1.0 (AutoDoubler version) *CopyDoubler 1.0.1A (AutoDoubler
version) *CopyDoubler 2.0 Lite
Instructions for updating are included with the updater.
This updater does not update CopyDoubler 1.0.1, the full version of
CopyDoubler
2.0, or the CopyDoubler 2.0 Demo. A separate updater is available here for the
full version of CopyDoubler 2.0. Users of CopyDoubler 1.0.1 (the standalone
version not shipped with AutoDoubler) should contact Fifth Generation Systems
about upgrading to the full version of CopyDoubler 2.0.1. We recommend all
users
of CopyDoubler 2.0 Lite upgrade to 2.0.1 Lite as it fixes some important
bugs.
CopyDoubler 1.0 and 1.0.1A users: CopyDoubler 2.0 Lite is very similiar to
CopyDoubler 1.0.x, with the additional ability of compressing files as they
are
copied. To use this feature, hold down the Control key (Shift for Mac Plus
users) while invoking a copy to bring up an options dialog, where compression
and other one-time options can be set.
CopyDoubler 2.0.1 Lite Changes:
* Fixed a compatibility problem where CopyDoubler Lite would not perform a
copy
if Apple's PowerTalk (AOCE) or Personal File Assistant software is installed.
* Fixed a bug where CopyDoubler Lite would compress invisible files when
compressing while copying.
* Fixed a bug where files on a hard disk could get deleted when drag copying a
blank floppy disk onto another floppy disk.
* Fixed a bug where CopyDoubler Lite was trying to handle copying to and from
MFS formatted disks and producing an error. The Finder should now handle all
copies to and from MFS disks.
* Fixed a bug where an application's reference in the desktop file wasn't

* Fixed a bug which could cause the Mac to ask the user to reinsert ejected

>Folks,

I use Jon Pugh's PictFlipper utility to convert a SCRN to a PICT. I then
view the PICT file with TeachText. Though it's two steps, its easy since
both PictFlipper and TeachText are Drag and Drop apps.
I couldn't find PictFlipper in the Info-Mac archives, so I'm appending it
to this reply (it's small...). Here's an excerpt from the ReadMe that's
included with it:
This is an introduction to PictFlipper, a small drag and drop utility
which is moderately useful when dealing with PICT files and
StartupScreens. It will run under System 6 and 7 with a standard file
dialog box if launched without a file.
What it does is simple. It turns PICT files into StartupScreens and
vice versa. A PICT file should be fairly obvious. A StartupScreen is
more ambiguous. Essentially, a StartupScreen has a file type of SCRN,
but that's not always the case. What it MUST have though is a resource
of type PICT and ID = 0. This is in contrast with the old 9" b&w
StartupScreens which had the same file type but were uncompressed
bitmaps stored in the data fork. PictFlipper doesn't deal with those
kinds of StartupScreens.
Hope this helps!

Enclosed are three shareware XFCNs that deal with text in Rich Text
Format, which is usually used to transfer documents between word
processors while preserving formatting information. These XCMDs allow
HyperCard to exchange styled text with such word processors, Microsoft
Word in particular. They also allow you to copy styled text from one
HyperCard field to another, and to store styled text in variables.
These XCMDs only understand the subset of RTF that deals with fonts
and styles; they will ignore other formatting commands. The XCMDs only
run under HyperCard 2.0 or later. Think C source is included. This is
version 1.3, which corrects some bugs in version 1.2.

Shaman 1.0.0
I don't know how this never got to SUMEX, but here it is now.
Shaman 1.0.0 is the sequel to ShowShare, my file sharing utility.
Shaman displays an indicator icon in the menu bar or in a movable window
informing you of the state of file sharing (enabled, coming up, disabled,
going down, error), as well as when someone has logged on to your Mac.
Support for ARA statis notification is also provided.
It also provides quick access to the four sharing/ARA control panels, and
quick control over the state of sharing/ARA. Automation of sharing and the
File Sharing Monitor is also provided.
Shareware, $10.
Version 1.1.0 is under development and will be released very soon. Lots of
new features including sound notifications and speech notifications via
Apple's Speech Manager. In addition, Shaman guides users who are having
file sharing problems towards a solution.

++++ About So To Speak
So To Speak is an application built in Serius Workshop which uses Apple's
new Speech Manager (aka. MacInTalk II, MacInTalk Pro, PlainTalk, and Gala
Tea. Geez!) To use So To Speak, you need version 1.0.b5 or later of the
Speech Manager.
So To Speak implements many (and soon all) of the functions of the Speech
Manager. With So To Speak you can have mulitple voices speaking at the same
time, choose the voice to use from a pop-up menu listing all the available
voices, vary the pitch and rate of the voices as they are speaking, pause
and stop the speaking immediately, at the end of the current word, or at
the end of the current sentence, and continue paused speech.
Features at various stages of implementation in So To Speak:
+ convert text to its phonemic representation
+ modify the converted text in any way you want
+ speak phonemic text
+ install your own dictionaries
+ save the speech to a 'snd ' (or some other format) file
+ turn emphasis on and off
+ preflight text
+ etc, etc.
Comments and suggestions are welcome. Enjoy!

Subject: (A) Rebuilding the desktop
All this talk of rebuilding the desktop leads me to mention my technique,
which has worked well for me, unlike Reset DTDBs or any of that other
stuff.
I simply make the Desktop DB and Desktop DF files visible, drag them to the
trash and reboot. DO NOT EMPTY THE TRASH UNTIL AFTER YOU REBOOT (not that
you can anyhow since the files are busy).
This is very easy since you don't have to hold down any keys and since the
files are gone (well, they aren't in the right place so they appear to be
gone) you get a complete clean build.
This way no one is doing anything skanky (like quitting the Finder or stuff
like that) and the Desktop files get closed properly (since they are still
there). The only tricky part is making the files visible. I use ResEdit,
but have been thinking of writing a little program to do this (including
moving the files). I just don't like to rebuild my desktop since it takes
well over an hour, even on my 900 (Boy, am I glad I bought my loan-to-own
when I did!).

I have a brand new Centris 610 (boy, oh, boy, with a CD, playing rock CD's
while I download!) and have been loading on a bunch of my old favorite
extensions, plus some of the newer ones. I ran into a problem(?) I hope
somebody could shed some light on.
I put on Desktop Manager (up to then, everything worked fine), and when I
rebooted, got past the marching rows of startup icons to the blank desktop,
whereupon it sat there with a watch cursor. After a couple minutes of
waiting, with no apparent system activity, I rebooted, disabled Desktop
Manager, and the system was back to its normal self.
Was Desktop Manager actually doing something, or was it stuck?

The area of 2**n pages of An paper is exactly one square metre and all
pages have an aspect ratio of 1:sqrt(2). From this we can deduce that
the dimensions of A4 paper will be 0.5**2.25 by 0.5**1.75 metres. This
comes to approximately 210.2mm by 297.3mm or (since there are exactly
25.4mm to the inch) 8.28 by 11.70 inches. A3 and A5 sizes are left as
an exercise for the reader.

The enclosed file looks like a UUencoded file, but there are control-Z's in
the
text. I can UUdecode it, the result seems to contain the original binary
file:
The file contains the original file name, creator and type. I can find text

AppleScript delivers automation and application integration for the
macintosh. It is an extension to System 7.
Essentially it is a scripting language. It has most of the capabilities of
other programming languages with the advantage of being easier to use. It
will allow users to tailor applications to meet their needs. End users can
automate routine or complex tasks or customize their system.
AppleScript Software Development Toolkit v.1.0 is available from APDA
(1-800-282-2732) for apprx. $199.00.
You can also get a Run-Time Kit v1.0 for $20.00. You do not get the
AppleScript Language Guide with the Run Time version.
You should also check out the "Tao of AppleScript " by Derek Schneider
published by Hayden books. The book comes with a disk that contains
AppleScript and the Script Editor, also some Scripting additions. The book
should be available in most stores, if you have trouble finding it, get it
where i got mine, WordsWorth Books (1-800-899-2202). It costs $22.46 plus tax
there and they mail anywhere.
Hope this helps.

Subject: BBEdit or WriteNow 3.0 (C)
Dear Netters,
After hearing someone note that the upgrade for a BBEdit with Wrap around is
$49, some of you may be pleased to hear that a fully functional word processor
is available for less! I noticed in the August MacUser magazine that MacZone
is offering WordStar WriteNow 3.0 for $45 including shipping and handeling for
overnight delivery.
Features in case anyone needs to know:
1. Will allow drag and drop of pure text files and ask if they have line
breaks
or not. Usually just press return when this dialog box comes on.
2. A 1.4 Million Word Thesaurus with definitions of keywords
3. The fastest spell checker in the business, as each word hardly takes 1
second to look up.
4. Limited to 4 columns in column page layout.
5. Allows 8 bit Graphics (possibly 24bit graphics) to be pasted in and fitted
into the window.
6. Style sheets
7. Will show real font names, or the names in the fonts that are appropriate
using the option key.
8. Search and replace utility limited to finding and replacing tabs (^T) and
carriage returns (^R) along with the rest of the standard keyboard keys. Find
again is now also available.
9. A full online help is available that can set up to start on a macro key
(such as the help key of the extended keyboard).
10. Here is the amazing thing, it runs on System 7 with only 2 MB of RAM
installed. And takes up only 287k on hard drive, the spell checker 300k, the
thesaurus another 889k. The help is about the size of a DS/HD floppy.
and more...
MacZone's number is 1-800-436-8000 or international 1-206-883-3088.
WriteNow 3.0 is their product # 06274.
Disclaimer: I have used WriteNow for 3 years now, and also MS Word,
and WordPerfect. I haven't yet come across a time in which I would want
another text editor, as WriteNow is a fully functional word processor.
So no, I can't speak for BBEdit, and therfore my suggestion is somewhat
biased.
This is a for your information only message.
Hope it helps.

Don't given up on automatic text wrapping with BBEdit Lite. Check
out the program /text-editor-patches-125.hqx/ in the extensions folder
at Sumex. It patches BBEdit to do a type of automatic word wrap (or at
least it did with the freeware version (2.2.1) of BBEdit which I still use).

Subject: Black Screen Problem with Mac Plus
A year or so ago, I encountered problems with my son's Mac Plus. I
received some terrific help from the net. So here I am going back to
the well again.
The symptom is that the screen goes completely black on the Plus. A
well placed crack on the analog board side of the Plus causes
a momentary lighting of the CRT. So, tonight we opened her up and
*carefully* poked around.
The problem seems to be associated with the cable that runs between
the logic board and the analog board. Moving that caused the screen
to come alive. We were even able to place it in a position that kept
the screen on continuously. (This probably will not be a permanent
solution, however.)
The Plus has a new analog board (a year or so old). Has anyone encountered
this problem and figured out how to solve it?
By the way, the problem seems to be associated with the connector itself
on the analog board (J4, I think.) At least, that seems to be the most
sensitive part of the cable.

I'm experiencing 2 problems with my new Centris 650 (8mbRAM, 230mbHD, usual
extras, VM (16mb), 32-bit addressing, file-sharing on):
1. The Protege hard disk (100mb) I had connected to my IIci will not
boot up on my Centris. I can get it up with Norton's, but I can't
access anything on it and when I reboot its gone again. I now have a
very old Apple 20HD attached to the Centris, so surely its not
related to the age of the drive. I have tried attaching the Protege,
both with and without a Microtech tape backup drive which had
previously worked with it on my CI. Suggestions?
2. I downloaded a Diskdoubler (DD) 3.7.7 updater from Sumex or UMich
and updated my 3.7 version. Everything worked hunkey-dorey until I
installed the new DD I just purchased. Now, I'm having problems
with DD and MS Mail 3.1 working together. If I attempt to save mail
messages to a DD text file created earlier, Mail crashes and I get a
dialog box that says the "Autodoubler Internal expansion failure (out
of memory):DiskDoubler INIT". My settings have nothing to do with
Autodoubler, which I do not own. I am unable access either Mail or
DD until I reboot. I can't find anything that's changed except the new
version of DD. Is there a way I can use DD and Mail, without having
to decompress all the mail messages I've saved to text?
Since starting this note this morning, I have increased the memory
alloted to DD from 300 to 1200. I no longer get the expansion
failure message, but Mail is still crashing (now I get a dialog box
that says "... Microsoft Mail has unexpectedly quit ... error type 25
has occurred." Mail and DD are still unavailable until reboot.
Suggestions?

Subject: FullWrite Pro patch instructions for LW8.0 compatibility
I tried printing a FWP doc using the LW8.0 driver, and ran into problems.
A short note to Akimbo resulted in a prompt response that included the
patch described below. I am posting the patch instructions on Akimbo's
behalf. With this patch I can now print 4-up using the LW8.0 driver.
<jb2@math.ucdavis.edu> ``My _real_ word processor is FullWrite.''
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The current version of FullWrite has an incompatibility with the new
LaserWriter 8.0 driver. The problem occurs because FullWrite sends custom
PostScript code when printing to a PostScript code in order to get higher
quality printing. Evidently, this code is incompatible with LaserWriter 8.0.
There is a small patch that can be applied to FullWrite which will disable
all of the custom PostScript code. This will provide compatibility with the
LaserWriter 8.0 driver at the expense of lower printing quality. If you
don't need version 8.0 of the LaserWriter driver, consider using the old
driver until FullWrite 2 ships. You can also have both drivers installed on
your disk and switch between them as necessary.
If you must use LaserWriter 8.0, here's how to apply the patch:
1. Make a backup copy of your FullWrite application.
2. Open FullWrite using ResEdit.
3. Open the PSET 512 resource in FullWrite. This will look like:
0032 0000 0001 0000
0000 0000 0000 ...
4. Change bytes 09-0C so that it looks like:
0032 0000 0001 0000
0000 0001 FFFD ...
5. Save FullWrite and quit ResEdit.
5. Make sure you have no unsaved files in any open applications.
6. Double-click on the patched copy of FullWrite.
7. Print to verify the correct application of the patch.
8. Discard your backup copy of FullWrite.
This patch is guaranteed to work with FullWrite 1.5s. It should work with
all versions of FullWrite: 1.0, 1.1, 1.5 and 1.5s.

Subject: MacWrite Pro Updates [A]
Dear Andrew,
I posted recently concerning the MacWrite Pro updater.
I had been unable to get it to work on my British (v1.0Bv2)
version of MWP.
Subsequent correspondence from other netters and Claris
revealed that the different national versions were
sufficiently different that it was impractical to make
one updater for all of them. The only recourse for
the time being was to try your local distributor.
Be warned that the new version (1.0v4) apparently
does not yet exist in all the different localised versions
yet.
Claris assured me that they were working on providing
similar updaters for overseas versions, but had not yet
done so.
I find it difficult to believe that the difference between
different *English Language* versions of MacWrite Pro can
be that great, outside the dictionary file and perhaps a few
dialog resources (changing the spelling of words like "colo(u)r").
Surely all measurements, date formats, etc are stored in the
preferences file?
How many English language versions are there? US, Canada,
British, Australian (New Zealand uses the Australian version
of most software) -- any others?
Could someone explain what other differences exist between
different localisations of software? I have used the net to
download updaters for other locally bought software
packages, and never had any problems.
It is difficulties like this that add fuel to the argument
for grey importing of software from the US, which I have done
on a number of occasions with no problems whatsoever.

Subject: Music Tracker/MOD Files Programming Mailing List
Greetings. Well, due to the positive respose, it looks like the Tracker/MOD
Programmer Mailing list will be starting soon.
In the last year, there has been an incresing interest in the "MOD" music
file format on the Macintosh, due to the fact that the program
"SoundTrecker" came out.. basicly an Amiga mod-file player for the Mac.
Unfortunatly, "SoundTrecker" is not _really_ a "Tracker", because a true
sound track program will actualy let you edit and save a sequence of
sampled sounds that are played back at different pitches, with 4
or more voices, in a nice, compact file format. (both the sound
and music data are stored in the same file, unlike the MIDI (.MID)
file formats.) "SoundTrecker" is simply a mod _player_ ... the same
goes for the programs "MacTracker" and "AlphaTrecker". We need more
true trackers!
The only program close to being a true sound tracker on the Mac is
"The Player Pro" beta version. (It does editing, but will not import MIDI
files or let you create a new music partition.) Shareware "sound effects"
programs for the Mac like MultiTrack, Canon 2, RapMaster, and DigiTrack
unfortunatly do not save their constructed sound sequences to MOD (or any)
format! (hopefully they will in the future?)
Ever notice how some Mac video games, like "Diamonds" have bloated sound
resources in them for the background music? (they are played over and
over in a loop). The more-compact MOD file format will allow Mac games
to have many different background music themes, played in the background
with minimal CPU interference! (Depending on what Mac hardware you have.)
The MOD format is perfect for video games and music software, and should
be supported much more in the future. Unfortunatly people do not have
access to adiquite information about this format, and other music formats
(many origionaly created for Amiga programs) like 8-voice StarTrekker
MODs, MED files, 8-voice OctaMED files, Okta format, and .MID format
(as well as the Macintosh's own Studio Session file format)
Since there is so much confusion about the origional MOD format,
no two MOD-players for the mac seem to play MODs exactly the same
way (with the exception of SoundTrecker and The Player II.. and
mabye AlphaTrecker, but only because they use the same source code.)
If you would like to be on a mailing list for discussing The file formats,
as well as music programming and playing teqniques, please send me an
email reply!

Subject: PlainTalk Text-To-Speech Thoughts
I've just been playing with Apple's beta PlainTalk Text-To-Speech
extension with the new Sound Manager on a Quadra 700. I must say
that I am *impressed*! The folks at Apple have done a wonderful
job of programming much more natural speech into their machines.
I have played with text to speech for sometime now. I started out
in 1987 or so with a third party program (don't remember the name,
but it had a parrot on the box) and then went to MacInTalk. Neither
was able to produce the natural voice sound Apple got into their new
software. There certainly has been some progress made! :-)
It's not the HAL 2000 yet, but it's very close. Way to go Apple!

Subject: Powerbook won't boot. Help!
Someone in our office loaded a bunch of files on our Powerbook
100. When I took it home to work on it I noticed that there
was only about 100K left on the 40 Meg Hard Drive. Since I was
working on a file stored on a floppy disk, and I didn't know
what I could safely trash, I worked away. BIG MISTAKE!
After about an hour, and several saves to the floppy. I got a
message that said something like "Fatal Error: Out of
Memory." The restart button came up, but when I pushed it,
nothing hapenned.
In the office today I've tried Norton Utilities, an external
system floppy, but all of them fail to show the exisitence of
the hard drive. The only desktop icon is the startup floppy
and the trash can. When I try to start it with the floppy
disconnected I only get the disk with a question mark. When I
push the other button on the side (not the programmer's button,
but the other one) I get the sad Mac and the following two
lines:
0000000F
0000000D
I'll be calling Norton Technical Support for assistance, but I
thought I'd try this group too, since you've helped me in the
past. Can anyone help me this time, too?!

Hmmm. I've seen PowerPC team members on Usenet and America Online state
that the emulation is indeed 68LC040.
Also from what I've gathered the actual emulation will not reach '040
speeds. Overall performance should be '040 speed because some (much?) of
the most used toolbox code will be running native at 2-3X '040 speed. The
speed of straight '040 emulation has been reported to be about IIci speed.
Apparently (someone correct me if I'm wrong here) there are only a few
(1-2?) new instructions that the 'LC040 has over the '020, and these will
reportedly be supported.

Lighten up, Dom, and look for the program "SimBush" which has been on the
archive for a long time. Or, you could look for some programs, etc about
our former Vice-President: Quayle Tetris (even Dan can't lose playing this
game), Quayle Season (was on Jon Pugh's archive at apple).

I would like to add that Rescue 1.5 makes scratchy-screechy noises when the
new
Sound Manager 3.0/Sound cp combo is loaded. I had to remove these to
eliminate
the annoying noise. Would someone who knows how to contact the author please
alert him to this problem? Thanks.

Subject: Running Mac applications in Sun workstations
Hi,
I hope I sent this message to the right place.
I am looking for a way to run Mac software in Sun workstations, get some old
documents into a Sun-readable and workable form, and run a few specific Mac
applications. Many of us, here at the lab, also have a Mac at home and would
like to be able to work on both systems. For reasons beyond my control, it is
not possible to get real Macs for the lab :-(.
We came across two products that may be able to do the job: Xcelerated
Systems'
Liken and Quorum's Equal. Liken is a Mac emulator, which creates a "virtual"
Mac running system 6.0.7. Equal is an "application adapter" which lets run Mac
applications in the SUN.
I would like to know if anyone out there has had any experience with these
products: convenience, ease of use, file transfer between the SUN and real
Macs, problems, bugs, etc. Other comments/experiences are also welcome. I am
particularly interested in running Mac Project Pro and Canvas. I will
summarize
if I get enough responses. Please reply directly to me at
jdelgado@sun.che.scarolina.edu
Thanks.

Subject: tech-tool: reported problems confirmed and solution suggested
Alan Bloom writes in InfoMac Digest v11 #163 that on some machines Tech
Tool leaves generic icons and does not offer the option to reboot.
My experience was (on a Q950) was that Tech Tools did give me the reboot
option. However, after rebooting, I was indeed left with generic icons.
The solution was to run Tech Tools which deleted the desktop files, then
reboot, but hold down the option and command keys as usual to force the
desktop files to be rebuilt. This worked fine. So apparently what the
Finder does when it sees there are no desktop files is somewhat different
to what it does when it sees the option-command combination. Perhaps the
folks at MicroMat can explain why.
As a company that stakes its reputation on knowing the Mac inside and out,
they would seem to have a bit of egg on their collective face. However, I
do applaud their generosity in giving out for free a potentially useful bit
of software.

Subject: Tech Tool (Almost) C
I tried Tech Tool on a Q-700 with System 7.1 + updaters and the first
time I also got back generic icons all over.
The second time around I pressed the Command Alt keys when Tech Tool was
quitting the Finder. I guess I could have done that myself without their
help, but the idea that Tech Tool deletes the desktop files is
attractive, so as the Beatles once and still say - Let It Be.
What really bugged me however is that after trying their Extended Pram
Zap, I found out that the Day of Manufacture and the working hours are
also gone..... Apparently this does not happen if you do it by [ ha ha
hand(s)] Ctrl Alt X P R on boot.
Now it would be nice that - either Micro Mat patches the utility to
bypass the zapping of that info residing in ROM, and/or somebody please
make a little routine to restore the date and hours if you wrote them
down.
Now my machine has minutes of use and was built yesterday...

Several issues back I seem to recall a similar complaint. Is anyone else

A4 is a sheet with area 1/16 square meter in ratio width:height of 1 to the
square
root of 2. It is derived from the standard paper A0 (A-zero) which is exactly
one
square meter in area with identical width:height ratio. Cut one A0 sheet in
half
and you get two A1 sheets, cut an A1 sheets in half to get two A2 sheets,
etcetera.
The dimensions of A4 come down to 210mm by 297 mm (or so, I write this from
memory;
calculate it yourself if you want to know for sure).

You can get this book at your local bookstore (the book is published by

local store (Cambridge) WordsWorth Books (1-800-899-2202) for $22.46 plus
